Coaching
Blues has a team of internationally trained and successful epee and foil coaches, who hold qualifications and designations from British Fencing, USA Fencing, Académie d’Armes de France, International Fencing Federation, and the South African Sports Coaching Association. They are supported by a team of strength and conditioning coaches, sports psychologists, physiotherapists, and biokineticists.
In 2024, Blues founder and head coach Patrick Collings was awarded Coach of the Year by the Cape Town Sports Council, after being a runner-up in 2023 and 2021. He was also a runner-up in the Western Cape Provincial Coach of the Year Award in 2023 and 2022.
Blues is at the forefront of sport technology, using video, biometrics trackers, and AI to improve the performance of its fencers and prepare them for international competitions.
